The Gap credit card has been around since 2007. It offers many rewards and perks for customers who shop at its retail or online stores.

The GapCard comes in two versions, a store-only card and a Visa-affiliated Gap card. The store-only card can be used at Gap stores as well as Athleta, Old Navy, Intermix, and Banana Republic. The Visa-affiliated Gap card can be used anywhere Visa is accepted, and it also lets you collect bonus points for the Gap rewards program.

Other perks include special offers that earn extra rewards points when you shop on a Tuesday. You'll also get an additional 10% discount on Tuesdays and special birthday offers every year.

The card sets spending milestones, higher membership status levels will be unlocked once they're reached, and additional benefits will be given to the cardholder. There are three levels of membership available:

• Core members spend less than $500 each year
• Enthusiast members spend between $500 and $999 each year
• Icon members spend $1,000+ a year or generate more than 5,000 points

You can apply online to get a Gap credit card by submitting the following:

Once you hit "Continue," you'll be sent a text to proceed with the application.
